What are the requirements to have Tari prepaid meters?
The premise must have a main meter from the service provide i.e. KPLC.
How does Tari meters work?
Once these prepaid meters are installed, the tenants purchase tokens through the M-pesa paybill and receive the tokens generated from Tari vending system. At the end of the month, the total amount purchased in that month are sent to the landlord’s utility account or to the landlord as per the agreement and a notification sent to the registered account holder by the 3 rd following month.
Does this meter replace the main KPLC meter?
No, this is a secondary meter that must be connected to the main KPLC meter.
Are there any charges once the meters are purchased?
Yes, there is a fee of 10% service charge for the total purchased amount that covers for the token generation, administration expenses as well as transactional costs.
